scale model transfers Applying Transfers

Waterslide transfers are best applied to a gloss surface. Dab the area you are applying the transfer to with a little water. Carefully cut out parts required and using tweezers to hold It soak just long enough that the transfer film slides on the backing paper. Now move to model and slide off.

DO NOT LEAVE TRANSFER SOAKING.
The transfer film has been optimised to conform to shapes more readily. If you soak it too long, the backing paper will start to curl and the glue on the transfer film will be diminished.

Right and Wrong

If you are applying the transfer to an uneven surface you may wish to use a ‘decal softening solution’, available from a range of hobby suppliers. After positioning the transfer on the model apply a few drops and wait about a minute. Apply pressure to the transfer so that it conforms to the shapes underneath it and remove excess water. Finally apply a top coat of clear varnish to seal transfer onto the surface.
