For all UK mainland customers standard First Class post/packing is FREE.
I will always obtain a Certificate of Posting and this can be emailed as proof of posting.
If you wish to have Royal Mail 'signed for' than please let me know - you pay what it costs me. Again I will send the receipt to you as evidence of the charge.

I would recommend that all non UK post is 'international signed for' - it cost a little more (examples Ł6.19 - Switzerland, Ł6.67 - Thailand) but will give you, and me, peace of mind.
